The essential question is whether we have knowledge of the existence of the external world or not. One of the most important answers that have been given to this issue is John Locke's theory of belief in reality which has been discussed in this paper. According to Locke, we have sensory knowledge of the external material world but what he refers to as "sensory knowledge" is apparently inconsistent with the general definition of knowledge in his philosophy. After studying the approaches of contemporary philosophers, we will show that sensory knowledge is consistent with the definition of knowledge in John Locke's philosophy. We will also review the arguments for sensory knowledge of the external world and John Locke's answer to skepticism. Also discussed in this paper is Locke's view that the most certain knowledge of the external world is our knowledge of the existence of God as well as that according to him, we do not have knowledge of other minds or spiritual essences and our certainty in regards to their existence is through faith. <br />  باور ما به واقعیت اشیاء و اشخاصی که با آن‌ها سروکار داریم، موضوع بحثی بنیادین در فلسفه با نام «وجودِ جهان خارج» است. پرسش اساسی آن است که آیا ما به وجود جهانِ خارج معرفت داریم یا نه. از ‌‌مهم‌ترین پاسخ‌هایی که به این مسئله داده شده است، نظریۀ واقع‌باورانۀ جان لاک است که در این مقاله دیدگاه او را بررسی می‌کنیم. از نظر لاک، ما به وجود جهان خارج مادی معرفتِ حسی داریم، اما آنچه او «معرفت حسی» می‌نامد، در ظاهر با تعریف کلی معرفت در فلسفۀ او ناسازگار است. ما پس از بررسی رهیافت‌های فیلسوفان معاصر نشان می‌دهیم که معرفتِ حسی با تعریف معرفت در فلسفۀ لاک سازگار است. در همین زمینه به بررسی دلائل موافق با معرفتِ حسی به جهان خارج و پاسخ لاک به شکاکیت می‌پردازیم. همچنین در این مقاله آمده است که از نظر لاک، یقینی‌ترین معرفت به وجود جهان خارج، معرفت ما به وجود خداوند است. نیز نشان خواهیم داد که در نظر او، ما به وجود اذهان دیگر یا جواهر روحانی معرفت نداریم و اطمینان ما به وجود آن‌ها از طریق ایمان است. https://pfk.qom.ac.ir/article_1104_0afd0c12050877e9ee0093133036cd66.pdf
