In Sadrian philosophy, beings and especially the human soul, reach a point in their intensifying motion where no kind of limit—whether essential or gradational—can be attributed to them anymore. Therefore, for Sadrā,the soul does not have a known station; this limitlessness is called"supra-immateriality" That is to say, the human reality, which is his soul, after being separated from matter and the accidents of matter, goes beyond even this level of immateriality in its intensifying motion until it becomes abstracted from quiddity itself.Through the negation of quiddity, the station of supra-immateriality is achieved. Although this is one of the innovations of Ṣadr MullaSadra, an even higher station is also delineated for the soul on the basis of the principles of Transcendent Philosophy—a station in which the soul, in addition to being abstracted from body and matter (whether material, imaginal, or intellectual) and from quiddity, also becomes abstracted from the modality of poverty, gradational limits, and the like, and reaches the ultimate end of existence through complete annihilation, finding eternal life and subsistence in the Divine Being. This new achievement was obtained through an analysis of the views of Ṣadr MullaSadra, rational precision in his statements, and consideration of his specific principles,in a novel reading.
