چکیده

This study compares the ecospiritual thought of Seyyed Hossein Nasr and Fritjof Capra to determine whether their frequently assumed convergence is substantive or merely rhetorical. Both trace the ecological crisis to a defective cosmology rather than a shortage of technique, and both call for a re-enchantment of nature. Using a comparative-hermeneutic reading of the primary corpora within a critical-realist frame, the article examines four domains: the diagnosis of the crisis, the ontology of nature, the epistemology of knowing nature, and the ethics of ecological praxis. First, the two projects converge strongly in critique and in prescription but diverge in the direction of grounding: Nasr grounds the sacredness of nature vertically, in a transcendent metaphysics in which the cosmos is a theophany disclosed through scientia sacra, whereas Capra grounds it horizontally, in the emergent self-organisation of living systems. Second, Capra's systems ontology cannot sustain the intrinsic value it presupposes without an unacknowledged normative supplement, whereas Nasr's sacred cosmology secures that value at the cost of a contested relation to empirical enquiry. Third, a stratified reading permits a typed integration in which the sacred functions as an ontological-normative warrant, systems science as an empirical warrant, and khalīfah and amānah as mediating categories.
